Freely is all about creating fun and motivational products for all the girls out there focused on their education and working towards their dreams. We know first hand what a grind it can be to stay focused, motivated, and accomplish everything that needs to get done to make the grade. We also know that making our education a priority is one of the greatest gifts we will give ourselves. That’s why we’re here, to encourage and motivate when our studies feel overwhelming, and to have fun and celebrate when all that hard work is paying off. We are building a community of girls who are focused, motivated, and supportive of seeing all girls reach their fullest potential, and live big beautiful lives. Now, just because we’re gettin' our geek on, and working haaaard to get those grades, doesn’t mean we can’t have any fun right? Right! So let’s do this! Dream Big. Study Hard. Live Freely.
ABOUT ASHLEYHey there! I’m Ashley Hill, and I created FREELY because I was looking for fun items to help keep me motivated while studying. I couldn’t find anything I loved, so I went ahead and created them ;) I'm in my first year of university at the University of Toronto, and I couldn't be more excited for this next phase of my education! My favorite part of creating FREELY, has been the amazing community of like-minded students focused on pursuing their dreams, and supporting one another in the process. This community knows that there is room for all of us to succeed, and we are stronger together xo.
Supporting girls education initiatives has been a primary focus of ours since day one. We are proud of the fact that 10% of all of our profits goes directly towards two of the world’s most effective non-profits, working tirelessly to empower girls and support their fundamental right to education. “Inspired by co-founders Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai, Malala Fund's goal is to enable girls to complete 12 years of safe, quality education so that they can achieve their potential and be positive change-makers in their families and communities. We work with partners all over the world helping to empower girls and amplify their voices; we invest in local education leaders and programmes; and we advocate for more resources for education and safe schools for every child.”
“Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, providing more than 140,000 girls across the U.S. and Canada with life-changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. The Girls Inc. Experience consists of people, an environment, and programming that, together, empower girls to succeed. Trained staff and volunteers build lasting, mentoring relationships in girls-only spaces that are physically and emotionally safe and where girls find a sisterhood of support with shared drive, mutual respect, and high expectations. Hands-on, research-based programs provide girls with the skills and knowledge to set goals, overcome obstacles, and improve academic performance. Informed by girls and their families, Girls Inc. also works with policymakers to advocate for legislation and initiatives that increase opportunities for girls. At Girls Inc., girls grow up healthy, educated, and independent."
Today, more than 98 million adolescent girls around the world are not in school. That’s a lot of empty desks—and a lot of dreams that are being cut short. When girls get the opportunities they deserve, amazing things start to happen; poverty goes down, economies grow, families get stronger, and babies are born healthier. And the world, by all accounts, gets better. The Global Girls Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, seeks to empower adolescent girls around the world through education, allowing them to achieve their full potential and transform their families, communities, and countries. We engage people around the world to take action to help adolescent girls and the grassroots leaders working to educate them.
